Let It Fly: Evolution of a Jumpshot

Freshman Year Everything was chaos, trying out a new form, but everything was ugly. Shots were occasionally falling, but not the way I wanted them to. There are more things to learn, more room to grow.  Sophomore Year No video, but having not played basketball throughout most of this year, I'd assume it was worse than before.  Junior Year The form looked better than years prior. It had gotten harder to score however as I put myself in more challenging scenarios. Because of this, barely anything was falling, but the attempts just felt better. Senior Year Absolutely carefree. All I had to do was let it fly, whether it went in or not. My demeanor was relaxed, just enjoy the moment, if the shot goes in, take a breath and move on, if it doesn't, rebound and get back on track. Everything was feeling fluid. Still, it wasn't good enough. There was still so much more to learn and so many more things I had to perfect.  In case it wasn't obvious, this wasn't really about baske...

10 books I will read in the next 10 years, in no particular order... 1. Rage - Stephen King A psychological thriller. A book that has been banned in some cases. A book that Stephen King had to let fall out of print due to real-life connections. Very dark. 2. The Turn of the Screw by Henry James Another horror book. A classic horror trope with a certain evil in an isolated home.  3. Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel A dystopian book, a top 3 genre of all time. Follows a time after a pandemic, very intriguing.  4. Contact by Carl Sagan Being one of the most respected astronomers, a book by Carl Sagan should be a must-read. Contact between humanity and a technologically advanced alien life form, this book is regarded as one of the best science fiction books of all time.  5. The Ritual by Adam Nevill After watching the movie version months ago, I feel like I should read the book version soon as with the horror genre, there is a massive difference between being given the...

But looking back at it all with two weeks left of high school...it is what it is. Like come on now, I say I've failed a lot of times, but it's not like I can remember the specific occasion. I end up forgetting a week later anyway. I've been in a mindset of forgetting the past, what's done is done. If I were to get knocked down in round 1, but have enough strength to get up, there are still 11 more rounds to get through, so why worry about the knockdown? (I've never been in a boxing match and don't even believe I could get through 3 rounds, however, I believe I'm the best boxer in the state.) The story of my high school career has definitely been the developmen...
